I don’t pretend to understand the health care system in this country. I hear some people saying that universal health care will be great and they back it up with facts. Then I hear some people say that it is a huge mistake and provide different facts to prove their point. It’s quite confusing, just like most major issues this country is currently facing. I read today though about how Hawaii is dropping their state universal child health care program after only seven months. They were so excited about the program! Every child was going to get free coverage with the exception of a $7 copay. It appears that the problem was too many people who could afford health care unexpectedly dropped their private coverage so they could start getting it free for their kids. This is very discouraging. Will that happen if we institute the nationwide program Obama wants? Will it be set up differently to avoid problems like this? How do smaller countries make it work?
