Christmas morning, I woke up in my bed at my parent’s house in Greenville around 7 am or so. I rolled over, looked at the clock, and closed my eyes again to go back to sleep. But I realized it was a little lighter than it should be in my room and decided to reach over and shut the blinds over the windows so I could have a few more hours of good dark sleep. When I reached for the blinds, I glanced out the window and noticed that a thick cold fog filled the woods behind the house. I stared at it for a second, then laid back down. Looking up at the ceiling, I exhaled in frustration because I knew I had to go out there and take pictures, although I really didn’t want to. So I grabbed my camera and walked out in the backyard to snag a few shots. It was eerie and beautiful out there. Definitely one of those situations that wasn’t fun but I’m glad I did it. Who knows, maybe I can sell one of these to Bon Iver or something.
