Denison Witmer - Carry the Weight (acoustic)
from Carry the Weight
Denison Witmer has gotten me through a lot of long night drives. I’m still getting used to his new CD but I think it’s going to keep growing on me. Sounds to me like he’s been listening to a lot of his pal Sufjan. Plus he has the amazing Rosie Thomas backing him up on harmonies on this song.
He always has great lyrics but these are awesome. I love simple lyrics that make you think. I believe he is telling us in this song to love one another like we want to be loved. A community holds itself up together and is there to help each other out through good and bad times, even if we don’t have all the answers.
Carry the weight of your brother
Carry the weight of your sister
I’m not afraid to say I don’t know
Carry the weight of your father
Carry the weight of your mother
I’m not ashamed to say I don’t know, anymore
Carry the weight of your neighbor
Carry the weight of a stranger
I’m not afraid to say I don’t know what to do
And so I carry the weight
Carry the weight
Carry the weight of each other
Carry the weight of another
I’m not afraid to say I don’t know
